Review Criteria - Sally Port Magazine

The following criteria are used in the blind-review of every story.

Please make sure you have read the complete submission guidelines.

Genre

Clear fantasy story. Includes magic, alternate worlds, imagination, curiosities, wonder, etc.

The main character is the right age. The thoughts, actions, and behaviors are age-appropriate.

There are sufficient details that give depth and believability to the characters.

The development, change, and actions of the characters are merited.

The stakes / challenge is clear and appropriate for the level.

The story is engaging, and holds the reader’s attention to the end.

The build up begins at the start, increases logically, and clearly.

There is a clear resolution and end to the story.
